BDS Provides Bitesize Festival with an Appetising Sponsorship Strategy

17/05/2022

Aptly named, the Bitesize Festival is set to provide visitors with a range of short and fresh productions across three weeks this summer. Kicking off in July, the festival will serve as an appetiser for the Edinburgh Fringe in August, with twelve productions scheduled to take place over the duration.

Providing a sponsorship strategy that is every bit as innovative as the entertainment on offer, BDS worked alongside festival organisers to develop a title sponsorship opportunity for sponsors to get involved in the programme in a variety of interesting ways.

Specifically, the sponsorship strategy provides sponsors with the chance to be a named sponsor, granting them access to a range of onsite activation opportunities as well as invitations to events taking place beyond the festival itself. Named sponsors are also awarded exclusivity in their category and the option to take advantage of complimentary tickets and room hires for hospitality purposes.

The sponsorship opportunities BDS designed for Bitesize allow sponsors to form meaningful and lasting relationships that come with the expectation of future cross-promotional activity across various venues and events.

Ultimately, the sponsorship strategy for the Bitesize Festival provides incredible value to sponsors in the form of unique opportunities, hospitality options, and outstanding brand visibility.

BDS Sponsorship and Climate Hack.ai

16/02/2022

The University College London’s Artificial Intelligence Society has invited students from 25 of the world’s best Universities to take part in a competition focused on using AI to make a tangible and measurable reduction in industrial carbon emissions.

Open Climate Fix, a climate-based non-profit organisation, has prepared around 100 gigabytes of data from the EUMETSAT system for the competition. The aim of the competition is to use Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to improve the accuracy of short-term solar photovoltaic nowcasting (predicting the amount of solar energy that will be produced in a given time period in real-time). With more accurate forecasting, electricity grid operators are able to reduce reliance on non-renewable energy sources. Open Climate Fix estimates that better solar photovoltaic forecasting could save up to 100 kilotonnes per year in the UK alone, and by 2030, reduce global carbon emissions by roughly 100 million tonnes.

This unique community is being organised by Jamie Weigold, President of the UCL Artificial Intelligence Society. In a press release announcing the launch of the Climate Hack.ai competition, Jamie Weigold said,

“Climate change is the single greatest threat to humanity today. How we, as a race, respond to it will define not only our generation but the survival and livelihood of all generations to come. Climate Hack.AI and the problem of increasing the quality of solar photovoltaic power production forecasts more generally, is one of many steps that will be required to tackle this threat. We are honoured to be hosting students from such a prestigious collection of universities whose student communities are participating in the competition, united together in the fight against climate change.

Jack Kelly (Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Open Climate Fix) said,
“OpenClimate Fix is committed to addressing climate change in a completely open fashion in order to accelerate impact. Open Climate Fix uses our connection to industry to present real-world problems with researchers. Climate Hack.AI is a fantastic opportunity to get some smart, inventive people on this important challenge, and we can in turn help take these innovations to practical use.”

Here at BDS we assisted the Climate Hack organisers by helping them put together a sponsorship offering to support the competition. The competition is sponsored by Global Innovation Hub, Ennovate, and Newcross Healthcare.

BDS Develops Sponsorship Strategy For The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

27/12/2021

BDS Sponsorship is proud to be working alongside the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo to define a comprehensive sponsorship strategy designed to attract relevant and valuable corporate partners.

Renowned for delivering world-class events firmly couched in the Scottish tradition, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a charitable organisation that supports the armed forces as well as national causes. Established in 1949, the Tattoo emerged out of the strong festival culture of Edinburgh and the ambition to create a distinct sense of identity and unity in Scotland.

By working with key internal stakeholders, BDS Sponsorship is designing a robust sponsorship strategy that aligns with the charitable objectives of the organisation and capitalises on the Tattoo’s iconic status to generate as much funding as possible. By taking this approach, it will be possible to increase the sponsorship potential of the events the Tattoo runs whilst at the same time ensuring that their partners are in line with their broader vision.

By working in this direction, our team is confident that upcoming events hosted by the Tattoo will be even more successful in communicating the aims of the organisation and maximising their charitable contributions. Altogether, this project provides BDS Sponsorship with an exciting opportunity to work alongside an organisation of historic importance as it makes strides towards the future.

Alcohol Change UK Dry January campaign

22/09/2021

Commissioned in a consultancy and advisory capacity by an established British charity, BDS Sponsorship worked with Alcohol Change UK to effectively utilise their assets as well as advising them on the creation of the sponsorship sales collateral that would support their market strategy.

It is a documented fact that alcohol kills one person every hour in the UK. The impact of alcohol on wellbeing, mental health, family relationships and many other aspects of our lives is well known by now. Alcohol Change UK is an organisation on a mission to change the way alcohol is perceived, consumed and advertised in the United Kingdom.

Alcohol Change UK is not anti-alcohol, but is working towards a society that is free from the harm caused by alcohol. In their own words:

‘We are not anti-alcohol; we are for alcohol change. We are for a future in which people drink as a conscious choice, not a default; where the issues which lead to alcohol problems – like poverty, mental health issues, homelessness – are addressed; where those of us who drink too much, and our loved ones, have access to high-quality support whenever we need it, without shame or stigma.’

The issues surrounding alcohol and its place in our everyday lives is complex and engendering change is a significant challenge. While making it clear that they are not anti-alcohol Alcohol Change UK offers specialised support for those wishing to stop consuming alcohol entirely.

Coping with the negative aspects of alcohol costs the NHS £3.5bn a year. Around 200,000 children in England live with an alcohol-dependent parent. In 2015 the outcome of a study looking at how many hours were lost to alcohol estimated that 167,000 working years were lost in that year alone.

BDS Sponsorship Ltd has been commissioned by Alcohol Change UK to perform in an advisory capacity to assist the organisation in meeting their publicity and progress goals for ‘Dry January’, a pledge not to consume alcohol for the entire month.

In January 2021 6.5 million people in the United Kingdom took part in ‘Dry January’. BDS are using their extensive experience and expertise with large-scale national campaigns to help Alcohol Change UK make a significant difference to the lives of millions of people.
