Public Sector Sponsorship Experience

  • BDS wrote the sponsorship strategy for the Department of Health’s £100,000,000 smoking cessation campaign and were retained to undertake the resultant highly successful sales work. BDS had previously developed the Department of Health’s Draft Sponsorship Guidelines. BDS were re-employed by the Department of Health to communicate the E111 key messages through partnerships with the private sector, and significantly achieved over their targets.
  • BDS have been employed to undertake various consultancy projects for The Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
  • BDS advised the Department of Education and Employment on their sponsorship strategy as regards the Information, Communication and Technology Industries.
  • BDS have advised the Department of the Environment, the Department of Trade and Industryand theDepartment for International Development. BDS have provided consultancy advice to The Millennium Commission.
  • BDS have worked for Liverpool City Council in delivering new income streams/ reducing costs across all the sports and leisure facilities in the city.
  • BDS have also worked for Glasgow Life who are a partially divested part of Glasgow City Council, and who owns and operates 143 facilities throughout the City: including many of the Cities world famous Museums, all the City’s Public Libraries and a wide range of other arts and sports facilities.
  • BDS have completed a sponsorship strategy and business plan for Birmingham Council, which evaluated the sponsorship benefits and commercialisation opportunities across 48 council run leisure centres. BDS have also completed a sponsorship strategy for the council run Alexander Stadium.
  • BDS were employed by Edinburgh Council to obtain sponsorship sales for their “Christmas Lights” and raised significant sponsorship from British Energy. Following the success of sourcing the “Christmas Lights” sponsorship BDS were re-employed by Edinburgh Council to undertake sponsorship sales for their “Capital Christmas” festival.
  • BDS Sponsorship were the strategic advisors to Capita on generating income and appropriate cardholder rewards through partnership with the private sector for their Department For Education and Skills Connexions Card Initiative.
  • BDS were consultants toAdvantage West Midlands, BT and Imagination in regard to securing partners for their Broadband Value Initiative.
  • BDS are increasingly being asked by local authorities to undertake sponsorship studies/ audits in order to identify the best potential areas to pursue in order to obtain significant sponsorship investment. A recent example of work undertaken includes Aylesbury Vale District Council in which BDS identified the Roald Dahl Festival as having major potential and as a consequence have advised AVDC on how to adjust the festival in order to gain significantly greater sponsorship income.
